Hi! I’m Tiffany, author of Easy Hiking Recipes: Simple Meal Ideas for Day Hikes and Other Outdoor Adventures. I’m a hiker, rock climber, and all around outdoor enthusiast. If you’ve met me on the trail I was probably snacking on my sesame glazed roasted almonds at the time, or sharing homemade chocolate peanut butter bars with you. I love eating, and I love the outdoors even more.
For many hikers, food is just a way to keep energy up while exploring nature. Yes, energy bars and sports drinks will get you to the top of the mountain. But if you hike a lot, those meals become ho-hum quickly. To me, a day hike is about enjoying the journey, not just getting to the destination. And eating is a big part of enjoying the trip!
If you are content making do with trail mix and cold pizza for your hiking food, more power to you. But if you don’t want to settle for so-so meals when you’re out to have a great adventure, then read on. I believe a tasty meal can enhance your outdoor experience, help you save money, and perhaps even improve your performance on the trail.
I don’t see this blog and book so much as a recipe collection, but more as a list of possible ideas, to help you whip up a quick meal. With a little creativity and just a bit of effort, you can save money, eat healthier, and enjoy your day trips even more.
